Refurbishment & Conversion

The Result

Conversion of this underutilised roadside outbuilding into a dwelling won planning permission in 2009. Its status as a listed building and location within the Green Zone required a sensitive scheme. The challenge was made greater by the relatively small scale of the building and the need to ensure privacy between this property and the adjacent house.

The Project

Space within the cottage was maximised and a small extension built to ensure the one- bedroom house would be comfortable for the occupants, creating nearly 70 sqm of floor space. Critical to its success was the specification of high-quality traditional materials and early consultation with structural engineers to ensure the building could function as planned. We were also retained to secure building bye-law permission. The successfully finished project proves that even relatively small buildings can be transformed into comfortable homes.
