The redevelopment of a commercial store and stables into a substantial family home won planning permission in 2008 – despite the presumption against development in its location. We were specifically requested by the Planning Minister to be retained to agree the quality of workmanship. We were also retained by the owners to secure building bye-law permission. The result is a spacious family home with a countryside aspect finished to a very high quality.
The challenge was to meet the client’s brief for a light and airy spacious home whilst meeting the Planning Department’s requirements for a substantial reduction in built floor space because of its countryside location. This was achieved by employing a traditional ‘Regency Villa’ form of design, providing careful restoration of the landscape and through careful negotiation with the planners.
The only practice in Jersey to bring designers, technicians, planners and historic building advisors under one roof.
